Welcome to my online blog where you can keep up to date with what's going on in my life...

13th September 2009

I sang on stage last night for the very first time. I was nervous as anything but felt it went okay. The original line up was to be my friend and I singing, however she had a bad throat so pulled out. I couldn't let the show down by pulling out just because I had to sing solo and saw it more as an opportunity. So I went on stage to "showcase" my talent.... and I actually recieved a really good reception from it! It felt good to sing on stage - my great debut hehe. I sang Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" acapella at Cafe Chai in Ealing Broadway. You can see me singing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2YKPNLX-Pg

Had a fashion show party to attend tonight. I was asked to model for it but thought I would be in Canada so had been unable to participate! It was great to watch though and I did feel a pang of pain about not being up on the catwalk, but then again, I belive that everything happens for a reason and it just wasn't meant to be. The afterparty was great, the music was awesome and I met some lovely people! We all danced the night away and just went crazy on the dance floor. I haven't danced like that in ages - I definately felt myself having done a workout!

10th September 2009

So I was supposed to be in Canada right now for a nice relaxing holiday visiting relatives and little neices and nephews. Alas it was not meant to be. I'm waiting to hear from a commercial and really want it so postponed my holiday!! I'm also singing at Cafe Chai in Ealing Broadway on Saturday night which should be fun - it will be my first time on stage! I guess a lot of the time you must play the waiting game.... patience is a virtue....right?

8th September 2009

I had my filming today for OXASIANS. I had a 3 page monolgoue to learn but there was also an autocue so it wasn't too bad. They dressed me in this gorgeous Sari and an old victorian style top - it was great! Went through the monologue a couple of times as I had to say it with a slight Indian accent. I was told it was the most difficult monologue out of the rest and just thought to myself "why me??" hehe but then again, I've always loved a challenge! Had hair and make up done and went through it well. I know the whole monologue off by heart now! It was a great experience - I felt I gained an insight to the character (she was a real person: Cornelia Sorabji) and learnt a lot about her. So a filming and an educational experience! The team were so lovely and I hope I'll get to work with them again.

6th September 2009

Had a British Film Feature Wrap party to go to last night. It was at a nice venue and the music was great, the people were lovely but I felt so old as I was tired by midnight!! I even managed to get the train home. Felt like a granny really but was so happy to wake up this morning and just feel good and have had enough sleep! I think parties are great! But I just don't think I'm one of the wildest cats around anymore hehe I suppose it's a good thing though - not too many late nighters and more concentration on work.... although don't worry - it won't be all work and no play...

4th September 2009

Have had a great day with my friend. Went to "little Chef" because I'd never been! We were cruising in his new car (he had his instructor car deliviered in the morning) and singing alond to James Morrison and Jack Johnson. Was a lovely day with the sun out too. Almost the weekend I cannot wait! I was invited to a british film feature wrap party Saturday night so need to decide what to wear! Eeek. I don't even have time to go shopping! This should be interesting... I also recieved the monologue for filming on Tuesday. When I opened the attachment it was 4 pages long!! I almost fainted haha. But on closer inspection, and without the double spacing it was only 2 pages and I breathed a sigh of relief! I was told I wouldn't need to learn it all as there would be an autocue but I prefer to be well prepared - I mean, what if the autocue doesn't work or breaks down?? So I'm off to learn 2 pages worth of a monologue now. Should be fun!!

2nd September 2009

My goodness what a nightmare!!! I got lost whilst walking up and down the road for the casting for at least 30mins!! Couldn't get through to the office, noone around knew where it was and then finally, just as I found the tiny, hidden black door I got a call explaining where it was. Felt so embarassed being late - I'm NEVER late!! But everyone was so lovely and sweet and they hadn't started so told me to calm down and not worry hehe. Voiceover was fun, a little draining, but a good experience. It's good to know where these hidden studios are - I'm actually amazed at how much is in London!

1st September 2009

So I recieved a call the other day from a gentleman saying he'd been given my details by a producer and wondered if I would be interested in taking part of a commercial. Of course I said yess straight away! I went for filming and was the pianist in a girl band for a commercial for Ozzy Hair. I met some great people and the director and assistant director were the nicest I've met yet. They were kind, direct but polite and took time to know everyones name. I enjoyed myself so much - loved the way my hair and make up was done too! I then got asked if I would do a voice over for the commercial the next day and was chuffed to be asked as only 5 people were! A great day indeed.

29th August 2009

So it's been a few days of relaxation and have another audition today for a pilot for a comedy sketch. I went and saw my friend there! It was so nice to see her - she looked so good! Met the director, who was quite good looking actually, and after chatting found out he lives up the road from me! Small world indeed. The audition went well and I was asked to stay on to read other parts too. It was a great day and I'll hear from them soon. I'm quite positive about it so am looking forward to their response!

24th August 2009

Found Hatch end eventually and arrived for filming all smiles! The director and producer were so lovely and made me feel more at ease. I was asked to close my eyes and take them on a journey of what I could see after giving me a scenario of being in a room with 3 black walls and a floor of glass. I immediately imagined myself high up (I don't know why - I'm petrified of heights!) and talked them through what I could see. I got carried away and excited they had to stop me! They liked me a lot though and have got a filming for a Multi-media installation on Tuesday the 8th September now. It's great!! It's nice to do something different too so I'm looking forward to it!

23rd August 2009

Casting went okay on Friday but not as well as I wanted. The script was written in Panjabi and so I simply spoke in it...guess I have to play the waiting game! Went out with friends that evening and saw the Chairman of Crystal Palace. Had the greatest urge to go up to him and say "Hey you're Simon Jordan right? Chairman of Crystal Palace?" He would have said "Yep, that's me!" And I would have replied with, "Ah that's great. I'm a Liverpool supporter by the way! Nice to meet you!" Aaah well. Met his friend John. Lovely chap. Need to be up early for filming tomorrow - so glad to get into some more of it. Have to find my way down Hatch End...times like this I wish I knew how to drive! But it's all good fun, I love the rush of it all and can't wait to do my thing!

20th August 2009

I have a casting tomorrow for another feature film. Should be fun - they're looking for girls who can speak Panjabi and/or Urdu. Last week a director told me I have pure Panjabi as if I'm from the "pind" (village) - it was such a great compliment! I can't wait to natter away tomorrow in my home language. London born but Indian at heart - always and forever!
